About us
What is ECR?
Engineering Computer Resources (ECR) was founded during
the second half of 1987 to provide computing resources
to students studying various Engineering disciplines
provided by the Faculty of Engineering.
In 2008, ECR comprises of 8 laboratories containing 220 computers, these labs are availible for both classes and student
use with several labs providing 24 hour access, 7 days a week. These labs are located on all floors of the Old Engineering building. ECR provides a central computing resource available
to all Engineering undergraduate, post graduate students and staff.
ECR is a specialist facility, we have many expensive discipline specific software packages installed,
for use in the study and practice of Engineering.
ECR also provides faculty wide software licensing servers, and
various web services.
ECR also offers general computing facilities including word-processing, email, printing, colour printing, cd-burning, and scanning.
ECR gives each student a certain amount of disk storage (personal home directory) that is backed up nightly so they can store their files.
